Below are current course offerings made available by MoSAVE. Unless otherwise listed each course is two hours in length, but can be modified to fit your specific needs. All courses are interactive, media rich presentations with real world examples. Missouri P.O.S.T. credits are available for some courses. | Successful Investigation of Sexual Assaults of Women Engaging in a High Risk Lifestyle |
| A variety of challenges exist when conducting an investigation of sexual assaults involving women engaged in high risk lifestyles such as prostitution, drug and alcohol abuse, and homelessness. Predators seek out women engaging in these lifestyles with the comfort of knowing a significant number of these women either won’t cooperate with an investigation and many lack the credibility needed for trial. This module will explore high risk lifestyles and strategies for overcoming the obstacles these types of cases present. |
| Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault |
| Drug facilitated sexual assaults present a unique set of challenges for investigators. This module will address the various types of drugs used to facilitate sexual assault; what investigators need from the crime scene, hospital, and victim to prepare a strong case; and the long-term affects these types of assaults have on victims. |
| Interviewing Victims of Sexual Assaults Who Suffer From Mental Illness |
| There are many different types of mental illness individuals may suffer from. Individuals suffering from mental illness can present unique challenges during a criminal investigation. This module will discuss the different strategies to interview victims that suffer from mental illness in an effort to illicit all of the pertinent facts and prepare a complete case file to present for potential prosecution. |
| Victimology |
| Victims of sexual assault do not all react to the crime in the same way. Their reactions vary depending on a variety of factors. This module will address the variety of factors that influence a victim’s behavior to include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Rape Trauma Syndrome. |
