I met with both men and women that are working to change the way the world responds to sexual violence.  It would take hours to list all of the influential leaders that were in attendance.  I am awed by the fire that is still in these men and women that have been doing this work so much longer than I have.   The unbreakable spirit of the survivors that have the courage and strength to share their story inspires me to work harder to make this world a bit safer (or at least improve the system). 

This conference has left me exhausted, but inspired to push harder and work longer.  Change cannot exist without individuals taking the steps to MAKE it happen.  Thank you to all that started this movement so many years ago and continue to work and in your spare time mentor me (and others like me). You inspire me!

]]> http://www.mosave.org/2011/04/14/inspiration/feed/ 0 Eavesdropping http://www.mosave.org/2011/04/07/eavesdropping/ http://www.mosave.org/2011/04/07/eavesdropping/#comments Fri, 08 Apr 2011 03:56:00 +0000 Cate http://www.mosave.org/?p=193 I normally do not eavesdrop on other people’s conversations (at least not intentionally).  Last Friday I was walking by a vendor table when I overheard a comment that spoke to my heart. The ironic part of the story is I do not believe they were talking about work, or the type of work I am in at least.  Working with victims of sexual violence can be exhausting, both physically and mentally.  Earlier in the week I had received information on a case that made me question the justice system and my role in it.  Then I walked past the vendor table.  A gentlemen said to the woman sitting next to him, “Rest if you must, just don’t quit.” It was like he was talking to me.  So for all of my colleagues; all of you that are weary and exhausted, “Rest if you must, just don’t quit.”  The task of ending violence against women is not an easy one, but together we can do it.
