Eavesdropping
Thursday, April 7th, 2011I normally do not eavesdrop on other people’s conversations (at least not intentionally). Last Friday I was walking by a vendor table when I overheard a comment that spoke to my heart. The ironic part of the story is I do not believe they were talking about work, or the type of work I am in at least. Working with victims of sexual violence can be exhausting, both physically and mentally. Earlier in the week I had received information on a case that made me question the justice system and my role in it. Then I walked past the vendor table. A gentlemen said to the woman sitting next to him, “Rest if you must, just don’t quit.” It was like he was talking to me. So for all of my colleagues; all of you that are weary and exhausted, “Rest if you must, just don’t quit.” The task of ending violence against women is not an easy one, but together we can do it.
